An extremely graphic and realistic public service announcement from Britain on the dangers of texting while driving has become a global hit.

The video, released by Gwent police force in Wales, has generated over 6 million views on YouTube. The video depicts a group of four teenage girls driving down a road. The driver of the car decides to send a text to one of her friends, and accidentally veers off onto the opposing lane. She then triggers a huge pile up accident, and the viewer sees all of the girls being thrashed around in their seats and bloodied up by the broken glass. The driver is the only one who survives the accident, and she cries out in pain and anguish upon realizing that her friends and a few other motorists are dead.

Personally, I felt the PSA was very effective in driving the point home. We have all been guilty of using our cell phones while driving in some way or another, and the video really showed how anyone could easily lose concentration on the road. Some have criticized the video’s extremely graphic nature, but I feel it would be somewhat irresponsible to not show the consequences.

However, I wouldn’t want anyone to feel uncomfortable while watching this broadcast, so I’ve attached the link to the video below.
