Sarah Palin’s hypocritical support for the birther movement

Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin has been doing a series of interviews to draw attention to her recent book Going Rouge: An American Life. Her most recent media appearance was on Rusty Humphries’ radio show on Sirius-XM.

Humphries asked Palin what her thoughts are on the individuals who claim that President Barack Obama is not a citizen of the United States. The radio host was referring to the birther movement, which is a group of hateful and racist right-wing simpletons that will do just about anything to discredit Obama’s Presidency. Unsurprisingly, Palin expressed her support for the birther crusade.

When asked whether or not she planned to “make the birth certificate an issue” if she runs for president in 2012, Palin said, “I think the public rightfully is still making it an issue. I don’t have a problem with that. I don’t know if I would have to bother to make it an issue, because I think that members of the electorate still want answers.”

First off, the thought of her running for President is laughable. The Republican party would be insane to even consider nominating her for the primaries. She would be slaughtered by just about anyone, including plumber Jack Stephan.

Secondly, this is the same Sarah Palin that is constantly complaining about the media asking her “gotcha” questions. This is the same Palin that accuses reporters of ripping into her because she is a woman. She doesn’t seem to have a problem with people attacking Obama by questioning his citizenship. But if the tables were turned, she would be the first to cry about how tough the media is on her.

Humphries had a follow-up question for the former Governor: “Do you think it’s (Obama’s citizenship) a fair question to be looking at?”

“I think it’s a fair question,” Palin answered back. All of that is fair game.”

It’s interesting that Palin feels it’s fair game when other politicians are attacked. However, when the media asks her perfectly legitimate questions that reveal how utterly clueless she is, she accuses them of attacking her.

Palin even added that “the McCain-Palin campaign didn’t do a good enough job” in calling Obama out of his beliefs and future plans. Of course, she was never specific about the issues she would call him out on.

I would argue that the McCain campaign didn’t do a good enough job in shutting her up. One of the reasons why John McCain lost the election is because his running mate demonstrated to the entire U.S. that she is a complete imbecile. Her interview with Katie Couric was a disaster. As a political figure, one would expect her to know what the Bush Doctrine entailed. However, she was completely stumped when asked about the contents of the doctrine.

Palin’s stupidity is not what gets under my skin. In fact, her ignorance is amusing and sometimes even entertaining. What gets under my skin is her lack of self awareness. She is one of the most hypocritical public figures and she doesn’t even realize it.

so ana, why don’t you tell us how you really feel about sarah palin…. lol – okay she’s an idiot, but the thing that strikes me is how much attention she gets and keeps getting that she’s really effectively mainstream… the scary thing is she has so-called “supporters” and if she ever ran for public office, like president, she could possibly make it pretty far… i mean, it didn’t seem like bush would win the 1st election, or the 2nd…. and well……….

No SarahPac is not interesting, she is a one-note wonder. She is entitled to her “talking-points” of view, hand fed to her by the Republicans. She believes in rationality, except when it comes to religion, and then it goes out the window. Her beliefs can be summed up in one word – Sarah. It’s all about her and no one else. She is supremely qualified to be no more than a contestant in a reality TV show, that and nothing more. She has no idea of what she is talking about. McCain chose her, so obviously someone values her. McCain is just as dillusonal as McCain. At times I wonder whether he really knew where he was when he was on the campaign trail.

Sarah Palin’s Drill baby drill, and death panels really connected with the voters. She is a strong woman and men are intimidated by her. She raised her family alone while Todd went hunting and oil-rigging and managed to do a good job as Governor of Alaska. She had to step down so that she could connect with us more strongly, without the drawback of being a governor.

  4. Monica,

You are so incredibly delusional and naive. I almost feel bad for you. The woman is an idiot, and she stepped down because she needed to make more money to pay for all the ethics suits that filed against her. Do a little research before regurgitating Fox News propaganda.
