Tiger Woods scandal highlights the downfall of technology

As the Tiger Woods scandal unravels before our eyes, it’s apparent to me that one of the elements working against him is technology. One of his alleged mistresses, a cocktail waitress named Jamiee Grubbs, just released a frantic voicemail Woods left her during what she describes as a lengthy affair. In the recording, Woods says,
“Hey, it’s Tiger. I need you to do me a huge favor. Can you please take your name off your phone? My wife went through my phone and may be calling you. So if you can, please take your name off that. Just have it as a number on the voicemail, just have it as your telephone number. You got to do this for me. Huge. Quickly. Bye.”
After Us Magazine featured the content on their website, Woods released a public apology to his family, which many believe is a confession to the affair accusations.
“I have let my family down and I regret those transgressions with all of my heart. I have not been true to my values and the behavior my family deserves. I am not without faults and I am far short of perfect. I am dealing with my behavior and personal failings behind closed doors with my family. Those feelings should be shared by us alone.”
Several women have come forward with claims that Woods also had sexual encounters with them. Grubbs says she has pictures and hundreds of risqué text messages that Woods sent her during the affair.
What amazes me is the fact that Woods was stupid enough to leave a trail of his infidelities. Photos? Text messages? A voicemail? Did he not realize that he is a public figure who is known for being one of the richest athletes?
Technology bit Tiger Woods in the ass. Whether he deserved it or not is an entirely different question. But anyone with a brain would understand that tangible evidence, such as a photo, or a text message, will always come back to haunt you. Woods was careless enough to document affair and he paid a price for it.
I talk about this story in more detail in the video below.

Your video won’t be on the server forever. Eventually the technology will become obsolete and the media will not be able to be viewed.
Technology is a double-edged sword.
Tiger was dumb enough to have an affair and wonder why anybody would try to profit from it. Buyer beware. There is no reason to live your life on the “net” — it has consequences, some of them very damaging. The “girlfriend” is perfectly within her rights to sell the audio to the highest bidder and make a buck or several thousand. Look at Monica Lewinsky and the Gap Dress. Sometimes its smart to save evidence so that you can defend yourself.
